Where mosquitos spend the day
They rest in the shade, and come out at dusk.
Through the heat of the day they sit in cool, shaded vegetation — under decks, in dense shrubs, along fence lines, behind the shed. At dusk they leave those places to feed.
A barrier treatment goes onto the resting sites themselves, and keeps working on the ones that land there long after we have packed up.
Shaded vegetation
Dense shrubs, hedges, the underside of low foliage — where they sit out the heat of the day.
Under decks and structures
Subfloor, deck skirting, behind the shed and the water tank. Cool, damp and undisturbed.
Fence lines and boundaries
The shaded strip along a fence is a highway. Treating it slows what comes in from next door.
What happens
One treatment, and you’ll notice it that evening.
We treat the resting sites around the house and yard — the shaded, damp places they sit out the day. It is all outside, and the product binds to the foliage once dry, so it keeps working on the ones that land there long after we have packed up.
On the day
About an hour, all of it outside. Your technician walks the yard first and tells you what to keep off and for how long before he starts.
That evening
The difference shows up the same night. Numbers stay down rather than bouncing back, because what lands on the treated foliage does not last.
Before you book
The questions we get asked.
What about kids and pets?
The treated areas are fine to use again once they are dry — usually about an hour. Keep pets off the treatment while it dries; your technician tells you what to keep off and for how long before he starts, and leaves vegetable gardens and fish ponds out of it.
Do I need to be home?
Everything we treat is outside. Leave the side gate unlocked and the dog inside and we can do the job while you are at work.
How long does it last?
Most yards hold through the season. Heavy rain and a yard backing onto wetland will shorten it, and a top-up around four months is common on the river.
When is the best time?
Early in the season, before numbers build. Treatments run from September through April, and booking before the first hot spell puts you ahead of them.
How much difference does it make?
It knocks the resident population down hard and holds it there, which is what makes the yard usable again at the hour you want it.
What if it rains?
The product binds to the foliage once dry, so ordinary rain leaves it in place. If the weather stops us treating on the day, we move your booking at our cost.
